This is Hailey. I "saved" her life a few years back and ever since she is my biggest fan. She fell on the skate ramps one night after church and cut her foot. I carried her to her mom who bandaged her up and there were no lasting effects. She came to church about 2 weeks later and sat in front of me with her mom instead of going to children’s church. The sermon was about telling the people in your life how much you appreciate them before it was too late. She was about 7 and wrote a full page about me saving her life and then walked back to my seat and gave it to me. Needless to say I have that letter in a safe place. Ever since I make sure I give her a big hug and something for her birthday. My point is you can make a huge impact on someone’s life by just letting them know they matter. I really didn't save her life that night but in a sense maybe I did because she now knows someone other than just her mom thinks she is special. Her dad is a good man and she told me she prays for him all the time to start coming to church. I promised I would pray for him too and I knew our God was big enough to reach him no matter what.
I lost my brother to suicide in October a while back and it still makes me mad. He had problems he thought were insurmountable. It was a problem 20k would have solved. I am not wealthy by any means but coming up with that amount of money to still have my brother sounds like something I could have done in 2 minutes. I never got the chance because I am the baby of the family and he didn’t want to burden me with that kind of problem. In fact he didn’t burden anyone other than my other brother who found him and the letter.
Too much information I am sure but my point is go tell someone, anyone that they matter. If you are walking in the store and some guy walks out at the same time just say “Hello”. If some single mom is struggling with her kids at the checkout, offer to pay for her so she can get on her way. If you are in a restaurant, give a huge tip and make the person’s day. Are you really going to starve to death if you bless another person with a couple of extra bucks? I know this is too much rambling but I didn’t want to let this day go by without saying thanks to all my friends and even my enemies that read this blog.
Tomorrow is a day that we as American’s will come together and pick our next president. Only in
